Emblem Road's remarkable success in last month's Saudi Cup caught almost everyone by surprise and not least his breeders, who were watching at home from St Louis.
Brian Moore, who oversees a private equity firm based close to the city in Missouri, also breeds horses under the banner of Brushy Hill LLC, an interest he has expanded with his father Patrick over just a few years.
They sold the Quality Road colt for a decent $230,000 as a yearling at Keeneland and would have been forgiven for forgetting about him as he had only ever raced in Saudi Arabia.
