In the sports of kings AP you are simply the best better than all the rest as has been proven over your illustrious career in the saddle. You are an inspirational person to so many people both in and out of the horse racing community and have left many fabulous memories for everyone to enjoy for many years to come. The ups and downs of a jockeys life change from day to day, from grand national glory to the muddy turf and ambulance ride that can sometimes follow, but they are the risks you take every single time you get the leg up. You can never keep a good man down and you proved that many times. It takes a brave man to walk away at the top of his game but as always a true professional to the very end. Enjoy your wonderful family and once again thanks for the wonderful memories. Happy retirement to a true champion, take a bow A P McoyShelly328Apr 27, 2015 at 10:40 AM

Thank you AP for all the memories. And thank you to Channel 4 for bringing the emotion of the day to our living rooms. A day when the hardest of hard men shed a tear in public but it felt the right thing to do. We saw the last ride from a great man and what a privilege it has been to have witnessed some great days over the years. To all jump jockeys we salute you!johnboyat 11:01 PM yesterday

The sadness in your face and tears in your eyes told everything today. In particular, of just how much love you have for the this wonderful sport. You are loved equally and National Hunt Racing will not be the same without you. You were and always will be 'Simply the best'. Good luck and very best wishes to both you and your family.Rob, Watfordat 9:03 PM yesterday

AP, it's been a privilege to have been a racing fan in your era. I have seen every one of your Championships; I barely remember when anyone else held the title!
You gave me my last precious memory with my grandma (a big fan) when you won the National on Don't Push It just before she died. That will be my most enduring memory of your career.
All the very best for the future, Champ!Jess Scottat 6:25 PM yesterday

A group of us were on a day trip from Uni on the day Shooting Light won the Thomas Pink at Cheltenham, but it was AP's ride on Image De Marque II (possibly in the last? We were drunk) that we purred about all the way home to college that night. We were obsessed - and felt rich for the first (and last) time all term: a day from the Gods. #ThanksAPDavid Williams, Ladbrokes Apr 25, 2015 at 4:17 PM

The best thing ever to happen to racing. Thank you for the joy it's given me but far more importantly, the example of what a human being can be and achieve. Champion jockey, champion man, champion dad .....a rare and clearly awesome combination! Here's to you AP and sincerest best wishes.Andy SaltApr 25, 2015 at 4:14 PM

Place pot, not even for much money, at the late Folkestone. 5 selections placed, coming to lucky last. No one cares about the race, no one will ever remember, prize money probably tuppence halfpenny for winning. You know already where this is going. AP on my selection, rides out like it's the Gold Cup to snatch 3rd. Honest all day long, credit to himself, the sport. We'll never see his like againDavid BradshawApr 25, 2015 at 2:17 PM
Now is the time for A.P. to become a Sir too.

McCoy, the only jockey that when a horse is truly beaten, literally becomes the horse and carries him to a unexpected victory.
The best jockey the world has ever seen, and possible the best jockey there ever will be!!
I don't know about anyone else but although I've gone for sprinter sacre tomorrow, if I'm to lose I want it to be him on Mr mole just so we can see his brilliance for the last time!!
But an even better man!
