Some interesting news from Irish Thoroughbred Marketing . . .
Some fierce bidding action will make a more than a decade-long comeback to Kranji this week, albeit with a twist. It will be held via ‘live’ streaming.
For the first time in Singapore, the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing in conjunction with Goresbridge Bloodstock Sales will ‘live’ stream Ireland’s premier Breeze-Up sale to local buyers at the Singapore Turf Club on Friday evening, concurrently with the night meeting.
The innovative idea will boast all the elements of a horse sale, exactly like those conducted at the Club in partnership with New Zealand Bloodstock in the early 2000s - the auctioneer’s rattle cattle, bid spotters peering at the crowd, and of course the banging of the gavel before that famous word “Sold!” is yelled out.
Except that no horse will parade in the flesh like they did at the Kranji parade ring-turned-makeshift auction ring for a day, and the action is taking place some 7,000 miles away in Ireland!
Instead, buyers will get to watch everything remotely via a giant screen and several monitors from 5pm to 10.30pm, while sitting in the comfort of an ‘external sales arena’ set up in the Happiness Room, Owners’ Lounge, Level 3 at Kranji. They can also view the videos of the breeze-ups online as well as sales catalogues and footage of the lots.
As with all sales, buyers need to pre-register and they can contact Association of Racehorse Trainers Singapore (Arts) Operations Manager Debbie Hawkins at email@example.com or the Singapore Turf Club’s Customer Care Department Senior Manager Leow Chin Khong firstname.lastname@example.org for the buyers registration forms which need to be submitted prior to sale in order to receive a bidding number.
The actual breeze-up of the horses will take place on Thursday, May 19 from 7pm (Singapore time) and the breeze-ups will be posted 30 minutes after the horse has breezed, on the website at http://www.irishhorse.com/bloodstock-sales/
Catalogues are also available from the Customer Care Department.
