  • Lot 106: b f Kodiac - Ursula (Namid)

Kodiac's place within pinhookers affections won't have been dimmed by today's proceedings. The stallion's third six-figure lot of the day is Meadowview Stables' colt out of multiple winner Ursula who sells for £100,000 to Stroud/Coleman. A €21,000 pinhook by his vendor, he is out of a half-sister to Listed winner Montecchio.

He brings Stroud/Coleman's expenditure so far for the day to £473,000.

  • Lot 121: ch f Tamayuz - Arsheef (Hard Spun)

This filly, who was let go by Shadwell for just €12,000 at last year's Goffs Open Sale, turns a tremendous profit for her connections when reselling for £140,000 to Richard Brown of Blandford Bloodstock. Will Douglass of Charlie Gordon-Watson Bloodstock and Joe Foley were among the underbidders on the filly, who was pinhooked by Michael Byrne and sold through his Knockgraffon Stables.

She is the first foal out of Arsheef, a dual-winning granddaughter of Listed winner Sarayir, dam of Ghanaati and Mawatheeq. Her fourth dam is Height Of Fashion, also the granddam of Tamayuz.

"She goes to John Gosden," said Brown. "I thought she did a very good breeze. She was very green at the beginning but finished well - the further she went the better she went and she galloped out very well.

"I think Tamayuz is an underrated stallion and her dam could run a bit too - she had an RPR of 97. She's also inbred to Height Of Fashion. If she got a bit of black-type, she would be a very valuable addition to a broodmare band."

  • Lots of smiles among the breeze-up community this afternoon following a successful sale during which several major coups were recorded. The one gripe is the lack of buyers at the lower end of the market, an issue the presence of potential Scandinavian buyers did not alleviate, but there's no doubt this year's sale had a greater buzz than recent renewals.

Overall, it would seem that 54 of the 105 pinhooks made a profit. Among the most notable were:

    40) this Society Rock filly made £62,000, having sold to Eddie Lineman for €5,000 as a yearling

    62) Lonhro colt made £210,000, having sold to Justin Rea for $17,000 as a yearling

    66) Showcasing filly made £190,000, having sold to the BBA Ireland for 37,000gns as a yearling

    72) Havana Gold colt made £135,000, having sold to Jeremy Brummitt for 22,000gns as a yearling

    92) More Than Ready colt made £200,000, having sold to Mc Bloodstock for $5,000 as a yearling

    106) Kodiac filly made £100,000, having sold to Meadowview Stables for €20,000 as a yearling
