What chance Bristol De Mai in the 1.30pm? Win or E/W???El Diegoat 10:29 AMGood morning El Diego, good to have you on board. Well, Nigel Twiston-Davies showed yesterday that he has his horses in fine form with a juicy double and it bodes well that Blaklion, another novice chaser in the yard, was good enough to land the RSA. My big worry about Bristol De Mai is the ground. He looks a serious tool on soft ground but this is a completely new test and it might just find him out. Each-way rather than win for me. Good luck.
In a festival dominated in recent years by the two giants of British racing and Willie Mullins – whose Vautour, controversially rerouted from the Gold Cup, appears a good thing in today’s Ryanair Chase – the bucolic Tizzard, who until recently combined training racehorses with the management of a herd of dairy cows, might be seen as something of an underdog. Make no mistake, however – Tizzard is a force to be reckoned with. His King George winner Cue Card will line up in tomorrow’s Gold Cup as officially the highest-rated horse in the field, while Thistlecrack is regarded by many pundits as their banker of the meeting. Some cracking stuff in today's Racing post, including Tom Kerr's scene setter for today's action. Don't forget to pick up your copy.
Philip Hobbs reports Balthazar King to be fine after his mishap yesterday. Here he is enjoying a morning in the field
Whisper ewGreat shout Donny Dave. He will love the drying ground and, as a former Coral Cup winner, we know he loves it here.
Course form and acts on good going
With Henderson in form
Has to be world hurdle valueDonny daveat 11:09 AM
Bristol De Mai my Lay of the day today, only ever done it in heavy ground. Dr Harper must have a massive chance in the last off 141, thrown in surelyJasonat 11:24 AMCan't argue with any of this Jason. I had a chat with David Pipe yesterday and he said at the start of the week he thought Dr Harper was his best chance on a winner, so the fact he has already been on the scoresheet bodes very well indeed.
There is no concern; he’s 100 per cent. Perhaps his work hasn’t been as exuberant as last year but he’s still in good form and on his King George form should win.Quoted on Racing UK
I spoke to Tom Scudamore and they reckon Doctor Harper has got 10lb in hand
hi fellas!any thoughts on the jlt now?i strongly fancy garde la victoire,as he goes so well here..stefanat 12:51 PMHe likes the track and the ground so will run well Stefan, although he may made need to brush up on his jumping to collect. I'm a Black Hercules fan and think he can bounce back from an unlucky fall last time. I was at Warwick when he won earlier in the season and his jumping was awesome.
He’s in great form and he’s done nothing wrong. He’s unbeaten over two and a half miles and we’re expecting a really big run. There are no worries over the ground, it could even improve him.
This is about as deep a novice chase as you get - ever!
It was a poor showing and I'm very disappointed for connections. It was obvious we were going to take a turn. Someone cantered at the tape, we pulled up, we had to come back off the tape. The only way I could come back off the tape was to turnaround. Did they miss me or what?
