Racing does the ice bucket challenge

Over the past few days the racing world has gone crazy for the ice bucket challenge. If you're not familiar with the phenomenon, the challenger is soaked by a bucket (or multiple buckets) of iced water and then nominates one or several others to undertake the challenge.

First the Champ, Tony McCoy, accepted the challenge from his old friend and rival Ruby Walsh. Being carved from granite he actually smiled as he was drenched by two buckets of ice-cold water.

"It's quite refreshing," McCoy fibbed.

Watch the Vine:

McCoy nominated Claire Balding, Frankie Dettori and Richard Hughes.

Who did not smile

Meanwhile, the Irish jockeys were also getting in on the act. Here's Paul Townend, John Cullen and Barry Geraghty getting soaked.

Does Geraghty even know what's about to happen?

Then a visibly nervous Nick Luck did it on the Morning Line.

And nominated the winning trainer and jockey of the Ebor, which turned out to be Johnny Murtagh and Louis Steward, who won with Mutual Regard.

Not everyone, however, fancied an ice shower.

Well done to everyone in racing who has participated so far. Remember, the ice bucket challenge is raising awareness and funds for motor neurone disease. To donate, if you are in the United Kingdom text ICED55 to 70070 to donate £5 to the Motor Neurone Disease Association, or in Ireland text MND to 50300 to donate €2 to the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association
